Breakfast in our hotel is eclectic to say the least;who can complain about schnitzel, KFC, and chocolate cake;
unfortunately they had run out of soft serve with smarties.
Today we decided to to visit the statue park at Utsukushi-ga-hara Bijutsukan. This is about an hour and a half out of town with no public transport. We decide to rent a car from the local Nissan dealer. We ask for the most luxurious and sleekest model available.
The road is a succession of twists and hairpin bends but our aerodynamic little beauty takes them all in her stride.
The statue park turns out to be quite magnificent and we have no trouble understanding the meanings of all the installations as most of them represent the struggle of mankind in the urban environment - Dur!
Lunch is a somewhat bizarre concoction of schnitzel and curry sauce;in future I must learn to ignore this particular fusion of Germanic-Indian-Japanese cuisine.
The drive back into Matsumoto is made more interesting by the fact that the Nissan dealership had moved in our absence at least that is my interpretation of my shambolic attempts to return our little powerhouse.
