The iron (wo)man event

We have been repeatedly warned by Jamie that today's walk will break us and that everything up till today would be like walking to the front gate to collect the newspaper(i.e. if you don't own a dog to do that for you).
We leave our old school old school at 0645 after "breakfast"
and buy provisions then it is all up hill: initially steep, then very steep, then very, very steep and then nigh vertical-total vertical uphill of 1Km.

Many of our group fall by the wayside and we are constantly stumbling over corpses of our fallen comrades. Eventually we get to the top and discover an Austrian restaurant selling schnitzel and beer
or is that just a mirage.
Yes it was a mirage and it is cold rice cakes and pickled veggies for us.
The path is then described as "undulating" which is more steepness both up and down.

We eventually arrive at the tallest waterfall in Japan and holy temple site.

Our legs by now are just solid balls of muscle.
We are then taxied down to our hotel only accessible by boat. We ease our weary bodies into the onsen and soon it is time for dinner and sake.
