Leaving Tokyo for Matsumoto

We pack up early and find a healthy breakfast spot

Then we decide to walk to Shinjuku station dragging our 70Kg of luggage along-after 5 minutes we decide that we really need to experience Tokyo taxis; then it is off to the big department store basement to stock up on goodies for our train trip to Matsumoto. Our carriage seems to be full of the elderly and/or infirm; one old dear collapses on the floor beside me-nearly making me spill my simple lunch.

We arrive in Matsumoto and find our lodgings-ditto cat story and then it off to visit the splendours of this town's fleshpots. Most impressive is the wooden castle, amazingly not destroyed in WW2.

We then tool around the backstreets of Matsumoto finding hidden treasures

The dead centre of town

In the evening we drink sake and eat unmentionable parts of chickens in a smoky bar
